Dracaena marginata colorama

The Dracaena marginata ‘Colorama’ is a dramatic living sculpture that instantly injects a burst of tropical energy into your home. You will want this striking houseplant in your living space because its slender, arching leaves are brilliantly striped in vibrant shades of deep pink, red, and green, turning an ordinary room into a colorful oasis. While it can reach towering heights in its native environment, a potted ‘Colorama’ typically matures to a perfectly manageable and elegant 4 to 6 feet tall indoors, making it an excellent floor plant for tight corners. It is the perfect choice for the everyday gardener who wants maximum visual impact and architectural flair without needing a greenhouse to keep it thriving.

To keep those brilliant pink and red stripes vivid, you need to provide your ‘Colorama’ with bright, indirect sunlight. Placing it a few feet back from a sunny south or east-facing window is ideal; too little light will cause the stunning colors to fade into a dull green. When it comes to watering, patience is keyallow the top two to three inches of the soil to dry out completely before giving it a thorough drink to protect the delicate roots from rotting. It is important to know that this beautiful Dracaena is not pet-safe; the leaves contain compounds that are toxic and will upset the stomach of curious cats and dogs, so you will want to place it in a room safely away from nibbling pets. With its easy-going nature, this colorful companion will flourish right alongside you for years.
